On behalf of the SofTechnics team, I want to express our thanks to everyone who participated in the SofTechnics 2008 Users Conference March 16-19, 2008, in San Antonio, TX. The knowledge, experience, and presentations by our retail user community, and the dedication and passion of our business partners made this conference a huge success. We believe that we achieved a good mix of networking, education, and recreation, and covered many of the key topics that all of us are facing in the competitive world of retail.
The high-level presentations from our speakers proved their expertise and passion for their topics, and were evident in the positive response from the attendees.
Jason Young - Mr. Young, a former senior-level manager at Southwest Airlines, offered insight and practical information on the innovative strategies and tactics he created at Southwest Airlines, compelling core leaders to get results
Daniel L. Hopping - Mr. Hopping, President and CEO, Next Retail Group discussed the factors causing the most change in how we work, shop, live, play, and interact, and how these changes are affecting the retail state-of-the-art and store-of-the-future projects.
Matt Pillar, Editor-in-Chief of Integrated Solutions for Retail magazine, moderated the Food and Item Recall Panel, which included grocery and general merchandise retailers, and how they handle defective or recalled merchandise within their organization. Mr. Pillar also presented on the subject "Inventory Is The Store" and how technology plays an even more key role in addressing inventory management and merchandise management challenges.
Frank Riso - Mr. Riso is the Sr. Director of Marketing and Operations at Motorola. Mr. Riso demonstrated how the technology from Symbol Technologies and Motorola seamlessly takes you to the "Next Revolution in Retail Technology."
Rick Dakin – Mr. Dakin is the Co-Founder, President and Senior Security Strategist for Coalfire Systems, Inc. His workshop presentation on PCI Compliance discussed strategies for the Data Security Standard (DSS) requirements and compliance validation processes.

In addition to the significant presentations by key retailers and industry leaders, the SofTechnics 2008 Users Conference also conducted four industry and solution focused Workshops and three Roundtable sessions. A highlight of the conference was the Solution Partners Exhibit, which provided firsthand demonstrations of SofTechnics’ ability to deliver complete retail solutions to complex business problems through strategic partnerships.
